Wedding at Borgo Sant’Ambrogio

Dominique and Isaac

Tuscany as a dreamland: soft hills, solitary cypresses, stone villages wrapped in silence. Borgo Sant’Ambrogio turns that image into something you can actually live.

Located between Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia, the borgo is a historic estate transformed into a hospitality venue set within Tuscany’s most iconic countryside.

The borgo is organised around an internal courtyard that instantly gives you the feeling of home. Around it: manicured gardens, panoramic terraces overlooking the Val d’Orcia hills, an infinity pool suspended over the landscape, and a small private chapel. This is not a location to visit, but a place to inhabit with your whole heart.

And that is exactly what Dominique and Isaac did, choosing Borgo Sant’Ambrogio as the setting for their wedding.

Borgo Sant’Ambrogio: a Val d’Orcia wedding between nature and hospitality

The couple and their guests arrived a few days before the ceremony. They settled into the borgo, learned its rhythms, and began to feel at home in a place they had never seen before. Preparations blended into the experience of simply being there. The line between before and during the wedding dissolved almost without anyone noticing.

This is the most precious dimension of a Val d’Orcia wedding venue like Borgo Sant’Ambrogio: it works on two different registers at the same time.

On one side, the open, cinematic landscape, the kind you recognise even without having seen it in person, because it already exists in the collective imagination. Hills that shift colour with the light, cypresses marking the boundaries of old farmsteads, a silence that is never absence but the presence of something ancient.

On the other, a gathered, convivial, almost domestic space. The courtyard where people find themselves without any particular reason. A garden to wander without hurry. A terrace where you stop and let the view hold you.

The wedding followed this same rhythm.

First the long afternoon light over the countryside, that golden, grazing light that only Val d’Orcia can give you at certain hours of the day. Then dinner shared in the courtyard, with long tables and the sound of voices bouncing off the stone. And finally the slow night, wrapping around the borgo while music filled the space and the landscape settled into darkness all around.

In a venue like this, there is no need for artifice, no need for set design, no need for arrangements built for the photograph. Tuscany holds everything, in every direction, at every hour of the day.

It does not serve as a backdrop to Dominique and Isaac’s wedding. It becomes the soul through which those happy days are lived.
